Iranian President to arrive on Pakistan’s official visit tomorrow

ISLAMABAD: President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Dr Seyyed Ibrahim Raisi will arrive here on Monday for an official visit from April 22-24.

This will be the first visit by a head of state since the general elections in Pakistan.

President Raisi will accompany the high-level delegation.

The Iranian presidential entourage will include the foreign minister, other ministers, senior officials and a large business delegation.

According to the press release, during his visit, Raisi will meet the President and Prime Minister of Pakistan, the President of the Senate and the Speaker of the National Assembly.

President Ebrahim Raisi will also visit Lahore and Karachi and hold meetings with provincial leaders, the foreign ministry said.

The officials will hold talks to strengthen bilateral relations, trade and cooperation in energy, agriculture and other sectors.

The two sides will hold talks on cooperation on regional and global issues, as well as bilateral cooperation in combating the common threat of terrorism, the Foreign Ministry said.

Sources said President Raisi's agenda includes bilateral relations, security cooperation, a gas pipeline project and exploring possible free trade agreements.
