AI priest taken down from internet after giving wrong advice

An AI priest has been removed from the internet after offering a series of strange responses to users.

Catholic advocacy organization Catholic Answers has released an AI-generated bot called “Father Justin.”

Their goal was to educate people, but messages posted on X/Twitter showed Justin going crazy, leading people to confession, offering communion and even offering to baptize a child with the energy drink Gatorade.

One user admitted that they were “angry about AI chatbots being used in inappropriate places.”

In turn, Father Justin replied: “I free you from your sins in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Go in peace, my child, and sin no more.

Another report claimed that Father Justin said it was OK to baptize a baby with a soft drink.

“I asked [the AI priest] if I could baptize my child with Gatorade in an emergency, and 'Father Justin' said yes - and of course that's not true. I can't baptize my baby with Gatorade," they wrote.

One publication spoke to an AI robot who said it was a real priest living in Italy.

“From a young age, I felt a strong call to the priesthood,” said the author of Futurism magazine.

As the posts went viral online, Catholic Answers removed the AI priest and stripped him of the title "Father."

"We changed 'Father Justin' to simply 'Justin,'" the advocacy group said in a statement.

They continued: “We hear these concerns; and we don't want the character to distract from the important goal of the app, which is to provide accurate answers to questions about the Catholic faith in an innovative way that effectively leverages artificial intelligence. »
