Over 5 years 2.7 Million Pakistanis left the Country that is More than 1400 People Per Day

Over the past five years, a significant number of highly skilled young Pakistanis have decided to seek opportunities abroad, totaling approximately 2.7 million. This trend, often referred to as “brain drain,” persists despite efforts to address the underlying factors.

Over 400,000 young Pakistanis with advanced degrees and skilled professions departed the nation in the first half of this year, according to official figures. During the last five years, an astounding 2.7 million people have left their home country in search of better opportunities elsewhere.

Where are they going?

Experts attribute this phenomenon to various factors, including uncertain economic conditions, rising inflation, and high unemployment. They note that these problems are not limited to a specific region of the country and affect youth throughout the country.

Analysis of the data shows that those leaving Pakistan have different professional backgrounds. These include accountants, engineers, doctors, technicians, managers, nurses, teachers, electricians, computer scientists, agricultural specialists, computer operators, supervisors and draftsmen.

In the Middle East, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, and Qatar are among the most sought-after locations for Pakistani expatriates. Also, a sizable portion of them have made the decision to go to nations outside of the Middle East, like the USA, UK, Malaysia, Greece, and Romania.

The effects of this exodus are being felt across the country, with people from all provinces and regions deciding to move in search of better opportunities. Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh, Balochistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Islamabad have contributed to the outflow of talent from Pakistan.

What comes next, then?

Millions of Pakistanis are pursuing their aspirations by moving forward. Despite the wide range of reasons given, the nation as a whole is being affected by this trend. There are a lot of interesting chances for Pakistan in the near future, whether it's expanding its job market domestically or exploring new avenues outside!

The exodus of highly educated and talented youth persists despite the government's attempts to address this issue. The scale of this migration highlights the need for comprehensive policies and initiatives aimed at creating an environment conducive to youth development in the country, thereby stemming the tide of brain drain.
