Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz launches free home-delivery project for essential medicines

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has launched a pioneering welfare project aimed at providing free essential medicines to up to 200,000 patients across the province.

Announcing the initiative at the ceremony, Maryam highlighted the importance of ensuring access to life-saving medicines for diseases such as hepatitis, tuberculosis and heart disease, which are provided free of charge.

"The social welfare project was announced soon after. Medicines for hepatitis, tuberculosis and other diseases will be delivered free of charge to the homes of 200,000 patients," she said.

Expressing his personal commitment towards the project, Nawaz said, “Starting today, I will be delivering medicines to several houses myself. » adding that medicines for heart diseases will also be delivered free of charge.

She also outlined plans to continue stockpiling medications to ensure continued use of medications. In five years, no one in Punjab will be deprived of medical care, she said, adding that 32 field hospitals have been opened for the people.

The Prime Minister also announced plans to soon open 200 mobile clinics providing medical services in rural areas. She reiterated her commitment to prioritizing public welfare and criticized the previous administration for neglecting health services. She stressed the importance of policies focused on service delivery and criticized efforts to undermine progress initiated by her administration.

Maryam noted that the PML-N has launched good development projects, but chaos is organized and the country is going back decades. She also criticized her opponents, saying they had removed free medicine over the past five years. She reiterated that a modern hospital will be constructed in every district of Punjab.

Responding to concerns over the country's development trajectory, Nawaz highlighted the harmful impact of regressive policies and stressed the importance of continuing initiatives to uplift society and ensure equal access to health services.

Later, CM herself visited patients' homes with free medicines. She reached Rasoolana Bibi's house by passing through the narrow lanes of Shadman Katchi Abadi's office premises. Seeing the CM, the elderly patient becomes excited. Maryam sat on the bed with the patient and asked her about her well-being.

She also visited another patient's house in Shadman Katchi Abadi. She gave him medicine with the rider.
